It had been almost three years since Stefan went to The Grill in Mystic Falls. It always brought back too many memories. Lexi was killed there, he had double dates with Caroline, Matt and Elena three of which he couldn't really see again, the first time he killed an Original and many more things that brought too much back. However, now things were different Stefan had just come off a drinking binge and was struggling to stay clean. It was getting close to the day he was meant to die. It always reminded him of how many people he had left behind for all these years and how they would all be feeling on this day. He always went back a week before to make sure he wasn't spotted by anyone. It was always a hard time for him to be alone but he had to be and he knew it.
Stefan had gone through periods of addiction, be it one thing or the next, he needed something to focus on. As a it was human blood or the humanity switch or both but now they were null in void. He had to find something else. He didn't want to be he always seemed to be addicted to something and even as human it was no different. It had always seemed to find him. Maybe he was just one of those people who had to have something, something to blame if things went wrong, maybe he just couldn't help it, Maybe it was just in his personality.
It had been three years since his last bender where he had ended up balancing on the edge of the river before loosing his footing and falling in banging his head leaving him unconscious. If it wasn't for an unknown person he wouldn't be here today. He never saw the person who saved him. He had woken to his head being bandaged and noone to thank. After the fuzzy headache and hangover passed he tried to think of what happened and all he knew was from this point was he had to try and go clean. It was a blur all he knew was falling in the river and waking up in new clothes and noone around to see if he was okay. Maybe they knew he would be or maybe they had just popped out. They had to be human as a would have tried to feed him blood and he knew he would have woken up choking it back up, unless they knew? He left stayed there for a day and not even the thought of alcohol crossed his mind only gratitude for whoever who had saved him. It was unfortunate that the human needed food and badly. He never felt the need to go back to that spot.
Three years later though he made his way back to Mystic Falls but instead of going to the river he went to The Grill and poured himself a little drink that was left. He sat at the bar staring at the drink thinking about it for at least an hour. He eventually held the glass up to his lips and poured the glass up to his lips but he couldn't take a swig. He didn't know that giving up his sobriety was a good idea but after seeing his brother again he needed to do something. He needed something to take the edge off his emotions and he needed to take his mind off everything he had felt by seeing Damon again. The consequences he would feel emotionally and in his life would be a ripple effect now. How many people were going to come looking for him? How many people would demand answers he couldn't really give as he didn't know them all himself. Who would come after him just for his blood the cure? At this last thought he took a swig and drained the glass. He relished the feeling of the warm alcohol burning his throat as it made it's way into his system. He poured himself another glass and downed it again before just holding the next one in front of him as he looked at it.
Katherine Pierce Sorry for the wait. You can turn up at any point and she can be the person who saved him if you like...
