Two and a half hours passed since the small town of Storybrooke woke up from their slumber. And two and a half hours passed by with Regina having absolutely no idea where Henry - her son - was. She searched the whole town. Every building, every park, every damn alley and it was as if he had simply vanished from the face of the earth. However, the earth was a far bigger place then the town's perimeter and Regina wouldn't stop looking this realm and all others needed until she found him.
Madame Mayor took a small group with her and after the protection spell was lifted, they ventured through the forest, despite all of Jefferson's warnings not to and even after seeing that whatever was out there, clearly had it's effects on him. At first they traveled together but as time went by Regina was getting more and more impatient so she materialized herself to another location of the woods so she could cover more ground as others looked elsewhere. She wasn't one to be scared of wandering alone, but she still couldn't get used to the fact that something seemed really off about this world. Walking, there were no signs of actual life out there and even the trees had a different color to them. She frowned at the sight of that, thinking that none of it made sense. But she couldn't distract herself to much with trying to figure out what was wrong with this world. She needed to focus. She needed to find her son.
As she snapped out of it, she decided to keep going but as she was about to continue her path, she felt a small branch cracking behind her as if she was being followed. And on that exact moment, she couldn't help but to feel that she was being tracked down or even hunted for a while now but only now she had realized it.
"Whoever you are, I'm REALLY not in the mood."
As she waved her hand, she turned around and threw a wave of magic ahead, causing the roots of a nearby tree to violently crack the surface and launch themselves towards her female follower, instantly wrapping themselves around her and pressing her back against the tree, blocking her every movement. Unable to move, Regina watched as she struggled to free herself from her magical grasp. She stepped forward and looked slightly up so she could make eye contact with her sudden visitor.
"I hope you're comfortable up there. Because unless you tell me who the hell are you and what you want, you'll be staying in that position for quite some time."

oh, great, a witch! Ever since she could remember, Hayley had some sort of affinity with nature. Even in a post-apocalyptic world, every now and then, the hybrid would like to go for a walk in the woods. She knew humans were out there: the grounders - people who survived the radiation - and the sky people - humans who basically went to space for 100 years in order to survive. She also knew there was some kind of war between them but that wasn't her concern. Just like she knew of their existence, they knew about hers and the other immortal creatures that survived the end of the word so they kept their distance, knowing what could have happened if they got too close or tempted their fate with the Original family. In fact, she hadn't seen a human in a long time. Unlike some of the members of her family, Hayley didn't hunt humans. At least, not the decent ones. Sure, she missed the taste of warm, fresh human blood but she figured that the world didn't need her killing the few people it had left. After all, if they started killing each other - as the grounders and sky people recklessly did -, they would never be able to fully restore the world and humanity. It was a nice day for a walk. The hybrid really enjoyed the feeling of being 'lost' in the middle of the woods. She stopped and closed her eyes, literally breathing it all in. That was when she caught a scent. She instantly opened her eyes and frowned slightly as she realized there was something different about that scent. It was human, that much she could tell. Yet, it wasn't like the scents of other humans she encountered. For starters, it didn't reek. Maybe she was being overdramatic but living in camps in the middle of the woods or ruins of old buildings didn't exactly made the remain humans smell like strawberries or vanilla. The scent she just caught, though, it was fresh and flowery. She could swear that was actually perfume. "That's impossible" she told herself as she started tracking the scent at 's speed. When she got close enough, she stopped and spotted a very well dressed human. She wasn't a grounder or a sky person, for sure! That made Hayley even more curious. Things got even weirder when the woman realized she was being watched and did something with her hand that made some roots wrap her around a tree. "What?!" she mumbled struggling to set herself free. She watched the woman step closer to her and rolled her eyes at her little threat and knowing exactly what she was. "Oh, great, a witch!" she grumbled. God, she hated witches. And, as far as she knew, witches were all dead. "Hi. I'm Hayley" she introduced herself with a fake smile on her lips. "And I'm the thing that is going to tear you apart if you don't stop using your little magic tricks" she growled, now in all seriousness, flashing her werewolf's yellow eyes and fangs.

"A witch? I was called a lot of things but a witch was never really one of them."
Regina said this with her brow arched and her arms folding on top of her chest, only to listen to a couple of threats when she finished speaking. Her arms dropped to the side and she looked at Hayley curiously but not exactly surprised. She saw the fangs, she saw the yellow eyes and all of that somewhat reminded her of Red.
"You remind me of someone that I know. A friend. She's a werewolf. I take it you're one too? You're stronger though. I can feel it through my magic." She shared, completely unaware that werewolves were actually an extinct species in this new, strange world.
And she could. She could actually feel how much stronger she was. There was something different about this one. But even so, Regina's tone became softer as seconds passed by. She wasn't looking for a fight, really, even though she hated being followed around randomly in a forest. She just wanted to find her son.
And Hayley would be able to feel it too. Regina's magic was different from the witches of Mystic Falls or even New Orleans. It was more intuitive, faster, perhaps stronger. It didn't depend on ancestors or sacred territories or blood. It just came to her with no effort in a blink of an eye.
"My name is Regina. And I'm looking for my son."

Mothers
Hayley arched an eyebrow when the women told her she had never been called a witch before. The hybrid found that odd considering the person who was keeping her magically wrapped around a tree as, in fact, as far as she knew, a witch. "Well, that's what you are and I really don't like witches so I suggest you try to change that by letting me go" she pointed out, feeling slightly annoyed. She doubted anyone hated witches as much as she did. After all, they never gave her any reasons to like them and this new one wasn't being any different. Hayley was surprised when she told her she reminded her of a friend of hers, a werewolf. How could that even be? She was human and werewolves were extinct over 100 years ago. Was she playing her? Maybe. But when she added that she would tell Hayley was stronger than her so-called friend, a cocky smirk appeared on her lips. "No, I'm not a werewolf. I used to be" she told her. "I'm a hybrid. Half werewolf, half " she explained briefly as she had no interest in that discussion. "Do you know one of those too?" she asked sarcastically. God, she hated witches! Yet, there was something different about this one. Sure, she was immobilizing her against a damn tree but she didn't seem threatening. Something deep inside of Hayley knew, the witch didn't want to hurt her. She was just being,,, cautions - in an annoying away. If Hayley's heart could beat, it would have stopped for a second when, after introducing herself, Regina told her she was looking for her son. Her heart didn't beat but it still hurt. And, after hearing those words, it was like someone with giant claws reached her heart and tore it apart, smashing it on the floor. It was like she lost Hope all over again. She could see it so clearly through her eyes, like it was happening again right in front of her. But it wasn't happening. Those visions and feelings were nothing but grief triggered by the image of a mother looking for her child. Compassion. That's what she immediately felt for the stranger standing right in front of her. Mothers. They were both mothers.. Hayley took a deep breath and swallowed hard, trying piece herself together. It took her a few seconds before she looked back at Regina and spoke: "What happened to your son?".

When the female insisted that it didn't really matter how she put it because at the end of the day she was a witch, Regina chuckled. Perhaps yes, she had been referred as a witch once or twice in her life but it wasn't exactly a name she was very used to. And how Hayley was putting it, it seemed that she was referring to a very specific type of persona, one that Regina really didn't identify as. The few witches she knew, were mostly charlatans and their powers were quite limited.
"Trust me. I'm something far more complex then a witch." She found herself saying, a roll of eyes and a huff coming along with it. "You wouldn't believe it anyway."
A hybrid? Now that was something that actually called her attention. She had never heard such term and she found it quite intriguing, specially because not even an hour ago she had her first encounter with a in those same woods.
"A Hybrid?" She repeated, yet it was clear how astonished she was. "To be honest, I don't even know why I'm surprised. Earlier today I didn't even find it possible for vampires to exist, yet I ran into one not long ago." She ended up sharing.
But as soon as they began talking about her son, Regina felt something in the hybrid change. She didn't know the reasons for it so she couldn't quite explain why Hayley had dropped all the rough act in her presence. She wished she knew the answer to her question but the sad and hard truth was... she didn't.
"I don't know. I mean... It's complicated and I don't have time to explain. I need to find him before something terrible happens to him. So as much as this little conversation is amusing, I don't really have time for this."
She raised her right hand and waved, soon the roots began to slowly slide off Hayley and submerge back into the ground. Regina turned around and began walking in the opposite direction from where the Hybrid was standing, not even bothering to look back as she spoke.
"You're free to go."

I'll help you When Regina told her she was something much more complex than a witch and that she wouldn't believe her, Hayley rolled her eyes. That was such a thing to say. They always thought they were so special or something. It was annoying really. "I pretty much believe in anything these days" she sighed, not really caring about it. It was when she mentioned she actually met a earlier that day that Hayley got interested in the conversation. She ran into a ? But who? Hayley herself hadn't seen a in forever. As the humans, they also tended to stay away from the Mikaelson family. "What ?" she asked, unable to hide her curiosity. The hybrid truly wanted to know what happened to Regina's son. Was he lost? Did someone take him? Maybe the grounders? When she told her that it was complicated and that she didn't have time to explain, Hayley opened her mouth to protest but before she could get out a word, the witch set her free. She arched an eyebrow when Regina simply turned around and walked away. For a brief moment, she decided to just let her go look for her son. But something inside of her couldn't let her do that by herself. In a blur, she stopped right in front of her and sighed. "Do you even know these woods?" she asked, knowing what the answer would be. "Well, I do. And I'll help you" she told her, swallowing hard all those painful memories about Hope. She lost her daughter. Regina shouldn't have to, not if she could help it. "I'll help you find your son.".

"What's so important about this other I met? Her name was Katherine."
And just like that, she started walking, not even thinking for a moment that Hayley could simply decide to follow her. And follow her was exactly what she did. Faster then Regina could even predict, the hybrid was standing right in front of her. "How the hell did you even do that?" She asked. She would never get used to this whole speed thing. Regina had seen her fair share of fast but this was a whole new level. Not even Red herself was this fast. It was insane really.
But as much as she would hate to admit that perhaps she needed help, the sad truth was, she did. She had just woken up in this strange world far away in the future and she had no ideia where she was. She had tried to use a locator spell to find her son but for some reason, it proved useless. So how could she deny help from someone that knew her way around?
"Ok." She said with a nod. "You're right. I need your help. But in one condition. If we see someone gifted with magic that isn't me, you stay behind me. I don't know what type of magic you're used to but trust me when I say, it ain't gonna be pretty."
Zira was out there and only she knew what other surprises she had reserved for Regina and the people of Storybooke. Regina started walking again, this time having Hayley by her side. She figured it would be only fair if she shared a bit of what was going on, even though she was unsure if the hybrid would actually believe her.
"You said something about believing in anything at this point." She began, her eyes however not on Hayley but everywhere else around them, scanning the woods. "I'm originally from another place. A realm called The Enchanted Forest. Once upon a time, I cursed everyone there, took away their memories and threw them into a town of my creation called Storybooke. I was a villian back then but things changed and people forgave me. Well, most of them at least. One of them didn't and decided to eventually make me pay for the error of my ways and, well, cursed me, my town, and everyone in it to fall into a slumber that lasted more then a hundred years. I woke up and my son, Henry, wasn't there. Yet, we were here and realized that the world had changed even though we don't exactly understand what happened. I told you my name was Regina but that wasn't what people used to call me. The story I just told you is the story about an Evil that forever ago wanted revenge on Snow White and then, years later, that came to bite her in the ass."
She stopped to face Hayley because now came the part she wouldn't believe.
"I might be a witch, Hayley. But I'm also a fairy tale character."

Evil Hayley couldn't believe she was hearing. "Katherine Pierce?!" she asked a little too loud. She wasn't a fan of Katherine, at all. Why should she be? After all, the bitch had tricked her and then sent someone to kill her. Of course, that was more than a century ago but she would never trust Katherine after that and after all she heard about the . But why was she even around? She shouldn't be anywhere near Klaus. Hayley quickly shrugged off those thoughts as she couldn't care less about Katherine Pierce and, worst case scenario, she would just kill her for the fun of it. Also, she was in desperate need of blowing off some steam. The hybrid smirked due to Regina's reaction to her speed. "One of the perks of being a hybrid". Hayley wondered how was it possible for her not to be familiar with vampires and hybrids and all that, especially considering she was a witch. When she agreed that Hayley should help but mentioned a condition, the former werewolf crossed her arms on her chest. She didn't like conditions. But when Regina told her what the conditions actually was, Hayley let out a chuckle and rolled her eyes. "You're kidding, right?" she asked rhetorically. "I'm a hybrid, I'm immortal!" she pointed out, still laughing. "If anything, you stay behind me." she added, now in all seriousness. "Besides, believe me when I tell you I already had my fair chair of magical incidents...". The two of them started making their way towards the woods. Hayley didn't need to know much. She knew all she needed already: Regina was a mother, looking for her son. And that was enough for the hybrid. She glanced at the witch when she started talking. When she told her that she was from another place, Hayley nodded. That much she could tell. She wasn't from that part of post-apocalyptic America. But she frowned when the witch added she was from a place called The Enchanted Forest. What? Before she could even ask anything, Regina kept talking and Hayley just listened. Evil ? Snow White? Sleeping curses? Was she trying to tell her she was a fairytale character? Yes, apparently she was as her last words were exactly that. Hayley stopped walking and just stared at her with a very confused expression. Was she joking? Or was she insane? "You are seriously telling me you are the Evil from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs? A book I used to read to my daughter?" she asked, fully aware of how crazy that sounded. Yet, Regina didn't seem amused. Actually, she was deadly serious. Her heartbeat and her breathing were steady... She wasn't lying. "Oh my God... You are serious." she realized, even though she didn't quite believe it just yet.

"You seem awfully surprised at the mention of Katherine. What about her? Care to share?" Regina asked intrigued. At this point, it was obvious that both Hayley and Katherine shared some rocky history together and even though it wasn't actually any of her business, she could use the chit chat conversation to keep her mind off more negative thoughts about the whereabouts of her son.
She nodded at Hayley's words, actually quite impressed with the set of skills that both vampires and hybrids seemed to share. Yet she was curious about their differences as well. "So... who tops who?" She asked in curiosity. "I mean.. Say that a and a hybrid walk into a bar and they get into a fight, who's most likely to have their ass kicked?" The question was made in a tone that resembled one of those jokes that people used to tell about people walking into a bar. Maybe it sounded ridiculous but Regina couldn't help but to place some mockery into more then half of everything she said. It was her own way of lighting up the mood and all that scenario was so heavy around her that she felt that the comic relief was needed.
When Hayley then said that she already had her fair share of magical incidents, Regina nodded but said nothing in return. It wasn't easy to explain how magic worked in her world so there really wasn't a point in trying to make her see. Not that she doubted the Hybrid, because she didn't... but she figured that surely both realities were very different. So instead of actually commenting any further about that, she focused on Hayley's reaction to what she had just said and as expected the Hybrid made the face anyone would make when they thought that someone was insane and saying a whole bunch of nonsense. She crossed her arms on top of her chest, her facial expression more serious then ever and only then Hayley realized that she wasn't lying. "I don't blame you if you if don't believe me." She said with a chuckle as her arms unfolded and she stepped closer to the hybrid. "So here... let me show you." Regina raised both her hands, each one of them settling to the sides of Hayley's head. Closing her eyes, she concentrated and soon magic was irradiating from her palms and invading the hybrid's mind. But it wasn't actually that invasive. At least Hayley wouldn't feel it like that. Seconds later, the Hybrid could see it. She could see The Enchanted Forest, how Regina made Snow White's life a living hell, how she cursed everyone into Storybrooke and how things developed from there until the moment Zira cursed them all again and they ended up waking up one hundred and thirty two years later. It was as if Regina had selected some of her own memories and was now sharing them with Hayley... and when she decided that she had shared enough, she opened her eyes and stepped back, allowing the other some time to process all that information.
"Do you believe me now?"

You don't feel evil When Regina asked her about Katherine, Hayley rolled her eyes feeling annoyed even by the mention of her name. "Argh..." she shook her head as she kept walking. "Katherine? Well, she's a bitch" she simply said, expressing just how much she hated the . It wasn't only because of what she did to her but also because of what she did to decent people over the centuries and her whole history with Elijah also bothered the hybrid. "I mean, I am a bitch too but for the sake of my friends and family. But that one? That's a whole other level" she clarified. She then suddenly glanced back at the stranger with a worried look on her face. She wouldn't pry and ask Regina what Katherine did or said but nothing good could come out of meeting Katherine Pierce. "She's bad news." she added now deadly serious. Hayley let out an amused laugh when Regina asked who would win in a fight: a hybrid or a . "Not to brag but a hybrid, for sure. I mean, our bite is lethal to them because of our werewolf venom. We can walk on the daylight, they can't. Overall we are stronger and faster than regular vampires." she explained. "Although, Original vampires are stronger than us but they are just a handful" she added, not even knowing if Regina knew what an original was. So, to sum up, Hayley was standing in front of the Evil ? Was that what Regina was trying to tell her? Just the thought of it was insane, to say the least. But the crazier part was something inside of the hybrid knew she was telling her the truth. But just because Regina believed what she was saying didn't make it true. After all, she would be... well, crazy. When the strange woman told her she would show her and place her hands on both sides of her head, Hayley didn't back away nor was she scared. When she first met Elijah he also showed her his memories. She was familiar with the process so she didn't hear it... or her. She could literally feel magic breach inside her mind. It was warm and non-threatening. And then, she saw it: the Enchanted Forest, the Evil , Snow White, even the damn dwarfs. She saw everything that happened between those fairytale characters. She saw the curse and Storybrooke and how all those characters were trapped together. She saw how they were cursed again but this time not by Regina but by someone far worse. When she lowered her hands and stepped back, Hayley was brought back to present and she blinked a couple of times, trying to make sense of what she had just seen. She slowly looked back at Regina when she asked her if she believed her. The hybrid nodded. It was crazy, but she did. She didn't know how to process any of that. "So... You are the Evil ?" she asked, rhetorically. She had just shown her the darkest side of her and how she made Snow White's life a living hell. Yet, there was something about that woman and, for some reason other than the fact that she could kill her in a matter of seconds, Hayley knew she didn't need to fear her . "That's odd because... You don't feel evil."

When Hayley straight up called Katherine a bitch, Regina blinked a couple of times. "Oh wow." She was impressed with how Hayley didn't even try to sugarcoat it or hide how she felt about the . But at the same time and after the encounter that Regina herself had with Miss Pierce, she could actually recognize some traits on her that matched with what Hayley was saying. "She does seem to enjoy her games." She said with a light roll of her eyes and a bored tone. "But other than that, she seems harmless. At least at my eyes. So what's the deal about her anyway?" Madame Mayor couldn't simply contain herself or better yet, her curiosity. After all and if she was going to stay in this strange world for a while, she might as well know with who she was dealing with while at it.
After her long life and after everything she had seen with her own eyes, who would say that there was anything else left that could actually impress the Evil herself? She was indeed very impressed with Hayley's explanation. "Fascinating." She said, actually meaning it. However that feeling soon turned into confusion whenever the hybrid mentioned Original vampires. "Excuse me, what?" She asked, blinking yet once again.
What Hayley said, hit her like a truck on a highway and at first, Regina didn't even know why. Highly confused, she blinked, looking at the other and wondering how on earth such statement had even been said. After everything she showed her on that vision, after everything she did, how could Hayley not feel her as evil, specially when everyone else did? "Yes. I'm the Evil . For many, that's all I am and that's all I'm ever going to be." She said with a sigh and to be honest it sounded more like she was venting then anything else. She was uncomfortable with this conversation and that much was obvious... So Regina did what she did best which was change the subject whenever she wasn't comfortable with it and desperately wanted to avoid it at all costs.
"You said you had a daughter. What's her name?"
