A few months passed since the Commander’s ascension. The clans were at war and the vampires’ threat was a constant.
Pacing around her tent, a young Heda was trying to figure out how to create a nation that could live in peace. Lexa could be only 15 at the time, but already carried a big responsibility. The Commander’s Spirit had chosen her and she was now in command. Trikru was strong and now with the Coalition she had formed with Flokru, Yujleda, Sangedakru and Boudalankru (other Clans - people who had survived somehow the apocalypse and slowly formed their own villages and assured ways to survive), they were getting stronger and together already had an army of thousands of people.
Negotiations with Trishanakru and Podakru were in place too, but it still wouldn’t be enough. Ice Nation and their allies forced a war and posed a serious threat as they too were growing stronger. As if that wasn't enough, vampires kept hunting specially at night, giving them no rest.
Just keep going into wars wasn’t a solution. Her gonnas were getting killed every day, a lot of them at a really young age. She had already lost a few brothers and sisters and even if she could already overpower one or even both threats, that would require an unnecessary bloodshed with losses within all parties. She had already tried to negotiate a truce with the Ice Nation, but their didn’t share the vision of a nation growing and flourishing in peace, all she could see was power and how she wanted it all to herself.
As for the vampires, Lexa had get to know the threat pretty early in her life escaping somehow by some miracle she only got to understand years later. The vampires could be few, but they were powerful. They weren’t as organized as the clans, but there were a few that seemed more powerful and in control than the others. With time, the clans had learned ways to kill the vampires - at least some of the weaker ones - and for some reason, they didn’t seem to be growing in number as the humans were (word spread they weren’t able to “turn” humans into vampires anymore). As for the stronger ones, they seemed to be immortal, but rumors stated they weren’t indestructible.
Nonetheless, the Commander was committed to end both wars and that included trying some kind of truce with the vampires.
She could be young, but she wasn’t a fool. She knew the risks and the strong possibility of not making it out alive. But the duty to her people came first, even prior to her own life. She didn’t fear death and she had to at least try. She would get a truce with the vampires or die trying.
And so she breathed deeply and, once more, read the letter to herself:
She nodded to herself and got up, asking two of her warriors to get that missive to its destination.
And now, she had to wait.

And so she breathed deeply and, once more, read the letter to herself:
“Dear Niklaus from the Mikaelson family,
I hereby, propose a meeting to discuss a non-aggression pact within the territories occupied by the Clans belonging to the Coalition.
As you’re certainly aware, this war between Grounders and Vampires has caused several losses within both sides. There has been too much bloodshed and I wish to end this. I believe we can discuss terms that can be acceptable to both parties.
Since this is a meeting to discuss a truce, I’d like to establish this one condition: no matter the outcomes, there shall be no bloodshed that day.
If you’re interested, please meet me at the Blue Ridge Mountains at the Shenandoah entrance, on the day of the first new moon, at noon. The Blue Ridge Mountains are currently a neutral space and it’s next to a large field which I believe it will be to your liking.
Best regards,
Heda Lexa, Commander of the Coalition”
She may had never encountered him face-to-face, but she knew this was probably the hardest of all, also, he was one of the most powerful and probably the most dangerous of them all, that’s why it had to be him. If she could get him to agree on truce terms, it would be easier to make others follow.
She nodded to herself and got up, asking two of her warriors to get that missive to its destination.
And now, she had to wait.
